Accessibility

DESIGN BY U UNIQUE APPAREL LLC intends this site to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader, magnify the page heavily, or need reduced motion. Where the site falls short we want to hear about it and we will fix it.

We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at Level AA. Specifically:

• Contrast. Body text runs at a minimum of 4.5 to 1 against its background. The primary call to action runs at roughly 8.7 to 1, comfortably past the 7 to 1 required for the enhanced level.
• Keyboard. Every control can be reached and operated from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline. There are no keyboard traps.
• Structure. Headings are in order, landmarks are used, and form controls carry a real label rather than relying on hint text inside the field.
• Images. Meaningful images carry a description. Decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology rather than described pointlessly.
• Motion. Animation is decorative and brief, and it is switched off entirely when your system asks for reduced motion.
• Zoom. The layout works at 200 percent zoom without horizontal scrolling on the page body.

• A skip link to the main content, first in the tab order on every page.
• Contact details in text, as a working mailto and tel link, in the header and the footer of every page, so reaching a person never depends on getting through a form.
• Tables with real headers, captions and scopes rather than styled grids of divs.
• Live regions on the quotation panel, so a price change is announced rather than silent.
• Colour never used as the only way to convey a state. Every status also has a word.

The configurator is the hardest part of this site to make accessible, so it got the most attention.

• The step rail is never icon-only. Each step carries a visible label that expands on hover and on keyboard focus, plus a full description for assistive technology that includes the step number and total.
• Dragging is optional. Every placement can be set from the keyboard: focus the canvas and use the arrow keys, hold shift for larger steps, plus and minus to resize, square brackets to rotate. There are also numeric fields and sliders for horizontal position, vertical position, width and rotation, so a precise value can be typed rather than aimed at.
• The preview canvas has a text equivalent. A sentence describing the garment, the position, the printed size in inches, the placement percentages and the rotation is announced whenever it changes, and can also be expanded and read on screen.
• Unavailable methods explain themselves. A method that cannot run on your fabric is disabled with a written reason attached to it, not simply greyed out.
• The quotation panel does not trap content on small screens. Below the large breakpoint it collapses to a bar at the foot of the page that reports the unit price and total, and expands only when you ask it to.

Stated rather than hidden:

• The compatibility matrix is a wide table. On a narrow screen it scrolls horizontally inside its own container. The same information is available as plain sentences on each method page and each product page, which do not require horizontal scrolling.
• The garment preview is a schematic drawing. It conveys placement and relative size accurately, but it is not a photographic rendering of the finished item, and the text equivalent is the authoritative description.
• PDF artwork uploads cannot be previewed in the browser. The file is accepted and printed correctly, but the canvas shows a placeholder rectangle at the correct size rather than your design.
