Product and legal notices

Every blank we stock carries the labelling required for textile products sold in the United States, and the same information is published on the product page before you buy:

• Fibre content, by percentage, in descending order.
• Care instructions covering washing, drying, bleaching and ironing.
• Country of origin, stated on the garment label.

Printing adds a second set of care requirements that the garment label does not cover, so we state it separately on every product page and include it with the order:

Garments sized for children twelve and under are children’s products and are subject to a separate body of federal rules. In our catalogue that covers 5 styles:

• Youth Hoodie, sizes YXS, YS, YM, YL, YXL
• Youth Tee, sizes YXS, YS, YM, YL, YXL
• Youth Long-Sleeve, sizes YXS, YS, YM, YL, YXL
• Youth Hoodie Zip, sizes YXS, YS, YM, YL, YXL
• Toddler Tee, sizes 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T

For these styles:

• Lead and phthalate limits apply to the garment, its trim and the ink or thread we print with. We source inks certified for children’s apparel and hold the supplier documentation on file.
• Flammability. The garments meet the general wearing apparel flammability standard at 16 CFR part 1610.
• Tracking label. Every unit carries a permanent tracking label identifying the producer, the production batch and the production date, so a specific run can be traced.
• No neck or hood drawcords. We do not stock children’s outerwear with a drawcord at the neck or hood, in line with the drawstring standard for children’s upper outerwear.
• No small separable parts on toddler sizing.

California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 requires a warning before knowingly exposing a person in California to a listed chemical.

We assess the inks, transfer films, coatings and garment trims we use against the current listing. Where an item we sell requires a warning under that assessment, the warning appears on the product page and on the packaging, and identifies the chemical concerned. Where no warning appears, our assessment did not require one.

Assessments are reviewed whenever we change a supplier or an ink system, and at least annually. Questions about a specific item: support@designbyuapparel.shop.

A print shop can sell a lot of shirts by promising things it cannot control. We have decided not to, and the list is short enough to publish.

• We make no claim that a print is immune to wear. Every surface print wears with use. Our method pages give a measured laundering result from a stated laboratory procedure on a test sample, which is a different and much smaller claim.
• We make no claim of identical colour reproduction. Screens emit light and ink reflects it. We work to a nominated reference and describe the result as an approximation. Why
• We make no claim of unlimited artwork capability. Every method has a colour ceiling, a size limit and a set of fabrics it will not bond to, all published, and the studio applies them before you order.
• We do not claim products are made in the United States. Our blanks are manufactured overseas and the country of origin is stated on each product page. Printing and finishing happen at our facility in Orlando, FL, which is a different claim and we phrase it that way.

These restrictions are enforced mechanically. A build-time check scans every page of this site for the phrases above and refuses to publish if one appears.

• Reviews are from customers who bought and received the order they describe. We do not write reviews, buy reviews, or accept reviews from anyone who has not placed an order.
• We do not delete negative reviews. We remove a review only where it contains someone’s personal information, an unlawful statement, or artwork that breaches our rules.
• Any incentive is disclosed on the review itself. If a customer received a discount, a credit, free product or anything else in return for a review, that fact appears next to the review, not in a footnote.
• Paid partnerships are labelled. Where we work with a creator or a club and payment or free product is involved, the resulting content says so clearly.

The country of origin published on a product page is the country of manufacture of the blank garment as declared by the mill, and is stated on the garment label. Where a style ships from more than one mill, every origin in use is listed.

Printing, embroidery, finishing and packing take place at our facility in Orlando, FL. Decoration in the United States of a garment manufactured elsewhere does not change the garment’s country of origin, and we do not describe it as though it did.

We produce consumer apparel decorated with artwork supplied by our customers. We do not produce, and will not accept an order for:

• anything infringing a third party’s intellectual property or publicity rights;
• hate symbols, threats of violence, or sexually explicit material;
• reproductions of currency, identity documents or official emblems;
• personal protective equipment, or any garment sold as offering protection from a hazard;
• anything requiring a regulatory approval we do not hold.
