Data protection

Privacy policy

This describes what we collect, why we need it, how long it stays, and what happens to the artwork files you send us. The artwork section is the one most people are here for, so it is near the top.

01Who we are

DESIGN BY U UNIQUE APPAREL LLC, trading as Printyard, a Florida Limited Liability Company at 8207 Via Verona, Orlando, FL 32836, USA. We are the controller of the personal information described here.

Contact us about anything on this page at support@designbyuapparel.shop or +1 818 383 0239. Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00 Eastern Time.

We do not collect or store payment card numbers. Card details are entered on a payment page operated by a processor certified to the PCI Data Security Standard. We receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last four digits for reconciliation. More on payment security.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal information, and we do not ask for any.

03Artwork you upload

Artwork is customer content, and it often contains personal information: a team photograph, a family portrait, a child’s name. We treat every uploaded file on that assumption.

  • Stored privately. Files go into a private storage bucket that is not publicly readable. Access is by short-lived signed link only, valid for ten minutes and issued to our production staff.
  • Stored under a random name. The stored file name is a random identifier. It contains no part of your original file name, your name or your order number, so nothing about you can be guessed from it and the storage cannot be enumerated.
  • Metadata removed. Camera, device and location metadata is stripped from images on receipt, before the file is stored.
  • Used only to make your order. Production, reprints and dispute resolution. Nothing else.
  • Never used to train a model. Not by us, and not by anyone we work with. There is no opt-in for this because we do not do it at all.
  • Not used as an example of our work unless you say so. The permission box at checkout is separate, is off by default, and applies only to a photograph of the finished item, not to your source file.
  • Deleted on a timer. Uploaded files are deleted 90 days after the order is completed, automatically. The retention window exists so that we can reprint a faulty run without asking you to send the file again.

You can ask us to delete your artwork sooner than the retention window. Email us and we will do it, and confirm when it is done. If you ask while an order is still in production we will tell you that the order has to be cancelled first.

04Why we use it

  • To make and ship what you ordered.
  • To review artwork against our published rules before printing it.
  • To contact you about your order, including if something needs a decision.
  • To handle returns, refunds and disputes.
  • To keep tax and accounting records required by law.
  • To detect and prevent fraud and abuse of the site.
  • To send marketing email, only where you have ticked the box at checkout, and only until you unsubscribe.

05Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary, with:

  • The payment processor, which receives what it needs to take the payment. We do not pass it your artwork.
  • Shipping carriers, which receive the delivery name, address and telephone number.
  • Our hosting and storage provider, which holds the data on our behalf under contract.
  • Our email provider, for order and enquiry messages.
  • A rights holder, where they send a valid infringement notice. In that case the statutory procedure requires us to forward your contact details with the notice. How that works.
  • Law enforcement or a court, where we are legally required to.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.

06How long we keep things

WhatHow long
Uploaded artwork files90 days after the order completes, then deleted automatically
Order and invoice records7 years, to meet tax and accounting requirements
Enquiries and correspondence2 years from the last message
Marketing list membershipUntil you unsubscribe, then a suppression record so we do not re-add you
Server logs30 days

07How it is protected

  • The whole site is served over HTTPS, with HTTP Strict Transport Security enabled.
  • Artwork storage is private, with no public read access and randomised object names.
  • Access to order data is restricted to staff who need it to do their job.
  • We do not hold card numbers, so there are none to lose.

No system is perfect. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law, and tell you what happened and what we did about it.

08Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law;
  • stop sending you marketing;
  • delete your uploaded artwork ahead of the retention window.

Email support@designbyuapparel.shop with your request. We respond within 45 days, and we will tell you if we need longer. We will not charge you, refuse a service, or give you worse pricing for exercising any of these rights.

09California residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, you additionally have the right to:

  • Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected, the sources, the business purpose, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to.
  • Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to statutory exceptions.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share it, but the route is below.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect any.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

The categories in section 2 map to the CCPA categories of identifiers, commercial information, internet activity, geolocation inferred from IP address, and customer content. We collect them for the business purposes in section 4, and disclose them to the categories of recipient in section 5.

An authorised agent may make a request on your behalf with written proof of authorisation. We may ask you to verify your identity directly.

10Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is nothing running on this site that would do so. If you want that recorded against your details anyway, email support@designbyuapparel.shop with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share” and we will log it and confirm within 15 business days.

We honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser as a valid opt-out request for the browser that sends them.

11Cookies and local storage

This site does not run advertising trackers, and it does not embed third-party analytics that profile you across other sites.

  • Local storage holds your cart and your studio draft in your own browser so that a refresh does not lose your work. It never leaves your device until you place an order. Clearing your browser data clears it.
  • Session cookies are used only where needed to keep you signed in to the back office.
  • Server logs record requests, including IP address, for security and debugging, for 30 days.

12Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16, and orders must be placed by an adult.

We do sell garments sized for children, and those orders often involve a child’s first name or squad number supplied by a parent or a club. We will not print a child’s name together with a phone number, address, email address or social handle, and the order is refused at submission if one is present. That rule is enforced on our server, not only in the interface.

13Changes to this policy

Last updated August 11, 2026. If we make a material change we will update the date here and, where the change affects how we use information you have already given us, tell you by email.
